MOLLY WOKE UP from her dream angry and alone once again. She hadn’t believed a word Declan had said when she had woken up the first time. She had believed that Shane would never have left her to die and neither would Cat. Only after five years, without so much as a word from either of them that she faced the facts. Shane had lied to her and left her for dead and her best friend could have cared less. If Declan hadn’t been there then, she wouldn’t be alive right now. If that night had taught her anything, it was to be careful what you wished for.

Despite being betrayed and lonely, there were a few positives to the outcome of that night. She had finally learned to stop being so naïve, she was still alive, and she was living in Scotland. Molly had always wanted to travel and now she was living abroad. Declan had promised her once they wrapped up the excavation that he would make sure she was able to travel more but for now she spent her days assisting his girlfriend Maura at the estate.

Molly’s face twisted with disgust as loud moans came through the thin walls of the apartment she shared with Declan. Apparently Maura had decided to stay over. She usually stayed at the estate where Declan worked but more recently she had been staying at the apartment more often. Molly wasn’t a huge fan of Maura, but Molly owed her everything. It was Maura who had given her purpose in this new life. Molly hadn’t been the first women to be betrayed by Shane, but she would be sure that she was the last.

If only Cat hadn’t betrayed her as well. Molly touched her neck, reaching for the necklace that had given Molly the power to reach out to Cat but froze when she realized it wasn’t there. She panicked searching her entire room, but it was nowhere to be found. This was not good. Molly had to find it before Maura’s asked for it back.
